A Bride Breaks Down Her Wedding Day From First Look to Fireworks (And What She Didn't Expect)

There’s the version of a wedding day you plan for.

And then there’s the version you remember.

In After the Day, an interview series by Gabbinbar, we invite brides to return after their wedding and reflect on the day as it truly unfolded. A return to the place where it all happened, guided by memory, feeling and the details that linger long after the music fades.

For couples currently in the planning phase, this kind of reflection may feel quietly reassuring.

It’s a reminder that while styling, timelines and details matter, they aren’t what define the day.

What lasts is how supported you felt.
How held the experience was.
How safe it felt to let go and be present.

Filmed in the Conservatory, Anne revisits her wedding day through a book of favourite moments and looks – from hair and makeup to her first look, and all the way through to fireworks during their first dance.

Anne speaks candidly about what surprised her – how quickly the nerves softened, how impacted she was by the traditional tea ceremony they hosted for their parents and how the emotional weight of the day showed up in unexpected ways especially during a first look moment with her now husband.

She reflects on moments no one else noticed but that meant everything to her.

The way a space felt.
A look exchanged.
The relief of the reception beginning.
