Three Tips for Walking Down the Aisle

Three tips for walking down the aisle

30 August 2018
Don’t let your nerves get the better of you, here’s how to walk down the aisle gracefully

When you walk down the aisle on your wedding day, all eyes are on you. You will have imagined this moment for months and it has finally arrived so here are three tips to ensure your walk down the aisle is nothing but graceful and elegant.

1. Hold your bouquet low so it’s in line with your belly button.

Yes, that’s right, hold your bouquet lower than you think so it is in line with your belly button. It may seem unnatural at first but this will create a slimming effect in photos and guests will also be able to see the beautiful bodice of your wedding dress. Essentially, by holding the bouquet at your belly button your arms create a slight diamond shape, this will ensure a sophisticated silhouette.

2. Push your tongue to the roof of your mouth to reduce crying.

Walking down the aisle will no doubt be an emotional moment. It may catch you by surprise or you may well have expected a wave of emotion to take over when you reach the top of the aisle. To ensure you make it down the aisle without your mascara running, push your tongue to the roof of your mouth. This will help reduce crying allowing you to enjoy the moment and take it all in.

3. Walk at a comfortable, normal pace.

Some brides tend to walk quickly when they are nervous however, you need to remember it’s not a race. A good rule of thumb is to walk at a normal pace for you. Remember, there is no need for the bride and father-of-the bride to step together either. We’d also recommend taking a moment to pause at the top of the aisle to take it all in, this is a moment you’ll remember forever. Plus, a handy hint is to walk on the balls of your feet as this will make you more stable.
