Spring at Gabbinbar is the season the gardens have been waiting for. Soft light, gentle breezes, and the estate coming back into itself — hydrangeas in bloom, white petals against velvet lawns, and the jacaranda arriving in its particular shade of purple above the lawn that carries its name. Temperatures move from 10 to 26°C across the day. The air is warm without being heavy.
Ceremonies at Gabbinbar are outdoor year-round — and in spring, the options feel almost unfair. Beneath the jacaranda on its own lawn. Under the towering cedar tree on the cedar lawn. In the pavilion, open to the gardens on all sides, the estate present in every direction. Or under the Moreton Bay fig tree, one of the oldest and most quietly extraordinary features on the property. There is something about marrying beneath a tree that has stood for that long, in grounds that have held celebrations for 160 years, that needs very little explanation. In spring, the reception can move outdoors too — the estate in the evening, warm air, the gardens still holding the last of the light.
